Parent Letter - January 2017
Dear District Staff, Parents, Community and Students: Welcome back and welcome to a New Year and a fresh start at Bayside/Martin Luther King Academy! We hope that you had the chance to get some well-deserved rest and time to enjoy family and friends over the holiday break.
Over the break our administration team and the teams from the Marin County Office of Education (MCOE) and the California Collaborative for Education Excellence (CCEE) began to work on how we can a begin anew. We recognize the challenges of the first few months of this school year and using information gathered through meetings and conversations with staff and parents before the break, a planning committee met to develop strategies for improving the communication and functionality of the district. This update will become part of regular communications you can expect in the coming months. We believe in a better future for our students and this will be strengthened by our collective commitment to the Bayside/Martin Luther King Academy School and the Sausalito Marin City School District...

Dear Parents/Guardians and Students;
I want to officially welcome all of you to the 2016-2017 school year!
As we embark on our first year together, let me start by telling you that I am honored to be joining this remarkable institution. Without question, everyone has been warm, welcoming and supportive. As I begin to acquaint myself with new students, parents, grandparents, teachers, custodians, secretaries, and paraprofessionals, it has become increasingly evident that this community unites around its children. Hence, I am truly fortunate to be joining such an amazing community of supporters.
One of the most important components of an exceptional school like Bayside MLK, Jr. Academy is the partnership between home and school. Throughout this school year, you will have the opportunity to develop our partnership in a variety of ways. Parents may join the School Site Council, volunteer in the classroom, help in the library, or participate in one of the many events or activities that make our school a special place for our children to learn.
I am looking forward to meeting all of the wonderful families that make Bayside MLK, Jr. Academy such an incredible place. If you have not a chance to stop by the office yet, and find yourself with a few extra minutes, please stop in. I promise not to take up too much of your time.
Again, I am excited and privileged to be part of the dedicated and supportive community. As we journey through our first year together, I look forward to maintaining an “Open Door” policy, so that our students may continue to thrive, thanks to the collective efforts of everyone involved.
Chappelle Griffin, Ed. D.
